SOUS Nov 7 2012

Hi everyone!

I can not believe that a whole month has gone by since I've done my first blogpost!  I have been very busy making cards for a local craftshop;  there was just no time to spend doing cards for sketch challenges!   I have decided to put everything else aside for a day or two, to catch up with what I've missed out on during October.

I was so excited when I discovered on Sunday that my card for September was chosen as one of the top 3!!  What a lovely surprise it was!!  I feel very honoured!! -  thank you very much  ( I will have to find out how to add my badge to my blog!!)

The first card I've done is the one for the current layout sketch at SOUS.  You can find the sketch here:   http://stuckonusketches.blogspot.com/.  (I've tried to copy the sketch here, but it does not want to work - must be doing something wrong!!)

This is the card I've created:

You will see that the background paper has a printed frame which was perfect to use with this sketch - I just had to add the sentiment panel to fit the sketch.  I love adding twine bows to my cards - whenever I can fit one onto a card, I will!!

The supplies I've used:
Paper:  Prima Marketing Inc (#844981), graphic45 (#4500450)
Stamps:  Leaves:  Great Impressions,
               Flowers:  Verve (Joyful Blooms)
               Sentiment:  Verve (VS-10-PJ034)
Dies:  Verve (Joyful Blooms)
Ink:  Versfine onyx black,  Ranger distress ink (Walnut stain)
Buttons, twine, satin ribbon.

The sketch for 17 Oct was the following:

SOUS sketch

Hi everyone!

Welcome to my blog!

I have been wanting to start a blog for sharing my cards with all cardmakers out there, but I just never got to the point of finishing everything off and being able to link to the web.  So, yes, this is the start to something totally new to me - be warned - I have a lot to learn, so please bear with me!

My first upload is for a card that I have created using the current SOUS sketch.  You can find the sketch here:

http://stuckonusketches.blogspot.com/2012/09/2nd-wednesday-card-sketch.html

and this is what I have created:

I had such a lot of fun creating this card, as I got some distress crackle paint for the first time and I just had to try it out!  I've coated the flowers, leaves, die-cut circle and fishtail-banner with cracle paint and I just love how it turned out.  I must admit that I did not manage to get a lot of cracks, but I love how the edges of the painted elements curl up and give a lovely 3D-effect.  I have also, for the first time, added some tulle to a card.  I took a close-up photo to try and show some more detail of the flowers and tulle:

and here is another photo:

Unfortunatally today was a very overcast day, so I had trouble to take good photo's as the natural light was not very good, but hopefully you could get a good idea of what my card looks like.  I must admit that I like this card very much!

The supplies I've used:
Patterned Paper:  Glitz:  French Kiss labels FK3623 and French Kiss Fleur FK3630
Stamps:  Verve (Bloom & Grow set, VS-09-PJ016).  sentiment:  KaiserCraft (CS917)
Ink: Versafine onyx black
Paper doiley, tulle, pearls.

So, that's it for my first published blogpost!

Thanks for the visit, and I would love you to leave a comment!

Petra.
