CAS on Sunday #63 and HLS July Christmas challenge

Hi everyone!!!

Two cards to share this evening!!!
First up is the sketch challenge over at the CAS on Sunday Blog.
This is the sketch:

and my card:

Flower dies from Couture Creations.  Flourish die from MFT.
Sentiment banner die from Verve.
Some black plastic dots finish it off.
Afrikaans sentiment saying: 'Congratulations'.

I will be linking this card to my friend, Mynn Kitchen's Blog, too.  She is celebrating 5 years of blogging and has a give-away with some lovely prizes.  Hop over to her blog, On a Stampage and have a look.

I have also made a card to link at the Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge where the code word is 'Tree'.

This is my card:

I've scribbled a tree with a black fineliner onto my card front and added some colour with green watercolour paint.  First time I have ever tried doing something by hand on a card and I quite like how it turned out!!!
Sentiment heat-embossed on vellum, a heat-embossed star and some rhinestones complete the picture.
Afrikaans sentiment saying: 'Merry Christmas'.

Thanks for spending some time with me - hope you enjoyed your visit!!!

Love both of these, Petra. Wonderful focal point on the first card. Love how you did those flowers as a pair of opposites, and the black circles really set everything off. I think I am seeing a pattern with those circle rings you use--beware I might try that too. And, your second card is simply amazing. Who needs stamps when you can draw like that? Really cool and clever way to make a tree.

Both cards are fabulous Petra. I think the combo of flowers and circles in contrasting colours is so striking. I always seem to have to choose a favourite I don't know why but in this case I have to say number two wins hands down . It is so creative and clever ... love it.Keep warm today!

. . . sorry, it was very late last night when I posted my comment above. Meant to also say, what a fantastic job you made on that beautiful Christmas Tree! You are a stunningly creative person my friend!! If I tried something like that, it would just look a mess, yet yours is artistic, classy and elegant and that vellum strip with the embossed sentiment is the icing on the cake!! Gorgeous! have a great day my friend! Hazel xx

Two beauties Petra! I love, love, love the design of your first card and the lovely contrast between the black, coral & green! Perfectly placed dots too.

Your second card.....my goodness girl, you've got talent! This is seriously awesome! You've taken "just scribbled" to some incredible heights with your tree! The velum banner and the bits of bling are perfect with your awesome image!

I've had a crazy bust past few days and we have a crazy busy weekend coming up...so hopefully will find a few minutes in between to reply to your lovely e-mail.

SO pleased to see you took that delightful tree over to HLS. It's a most unusual look with the way you've done it, and so striking. Love it! On #1, I'm loving those black circles framing the pretty pinks & the sideways panels. That is one well thoughtout & super effective design. Two stunners! TFS & Hugs

Two really gorgeous cards, Petra! Love the design and the colors you've chosen for your first card; it's really a sweet card. Those flowers are just amazing. And your second *hand drawn* tree is stunning. I don't think I could even begin to accomplish something so cool. Those blended colors are fantastic, and give it so much texture without any bulk. The gems and the glittery star finish this off perfectly. Just wonderful!! Bev

Oh I am love with this CAS tree Petra.. Simple and so effective the vellum strip is the perfect touch!! The other CAS card is is amazing and here is why.. You have a way of packing a bunch of color so delicately and perfectly into such a confined space. Yet it seems like the color is EVERYWHERE. So bold and effective and so well done Petra.. Your talent puts me in awe.. One question, what does Veels Geluk mean? I am going to guess happy birthday.. Love this design Petra!!
