I am really hooked on the mixed media thing now!! I started off with mixed media scrapbooking about a month ago and has now started doing cards with mixed media as well. It is just such great fun!!
The Mix-ability challenge for the week, over at Splitcoaststampers, is to work with bright colors and to then tone them down with gesso or any other medium.
The card I've made turned out like this:
For my card I have started off by scribbling with a bright green oil pastel on white cardstock. I then toned it down with some gesso, but I didn't get the soft effect I wanted. I then appied some txture past with a brush and let it dry. I then had the soft green I wanted. I distressed the edges and adhered the panel to my card. I distressed the edges of a piece of patterned paper (KaiserCraft, 75 cents Collection) and adhered that to the card. I added a piece of a chipboard border and a paper doiley. The leave stamp I used is by Verve - stamped that on a piece of green cardstock and cut out. Added the leafs and the flowers to the card . Cut a metal flower embellisment in half and added that as well. Die-cut the letters from black cardstock and adhered that. I then added a tiny bit of blue to the flowers by spraying it with diluted Liquid Dye. Finally I toned everything down with some gesso that I applied with a paint brush. Finally had the soft effect I was looking for.

That's it for my mixed media card. Hope you like it!
TFL and have a super day!

Pragtig Petra! Die kleure is so mooi en jy het beslis die sagte effek met die gesso gekry.
