FMS#227

Hi everyone!!!

I've made a card to link at the sketch challenge at the Freshly Made Sketches Blog.
The sketch:

and my card:

Border stamp from Verve.
Flower and flourish dies from MFT.
Chevrons cut with Tim Holtz die.
Patterned paper from Teresa Collins.
Afrikaans sentiment saying: 'Congratulations'.

The Faux Mother-of-Pearl technique is so popular at the moment and I decided to try my hand at it yesterday!!!  I watched a video by Loll Thompson and made a card that was very much inspired by Loll's work!!!!  Loll makes the most amazing cards and if you don't know Loll I suggest you hop over to her blog, Stamping with Loll, and enjoy her wonderful cards!!!!

This is the card I have made:

When I look at my panel now, I can see that I had too much of a heavy hand with the pearly stuff, so next time I'll use less!!!!  Did my sponging with MFT inks.
Flourish die from MFT.  Flowers hand punched.
Afrikaans sentiment saying: 'Congratulations'.

A few people pointed out to me that this card is good to link at the HLS CAS challenge for March where the technique to try is Faux Mother of Pearl, so I will be linking it there.

That will be it for today!!!  Thank you so much for spending some time with me!!!

Have a great day!!!

Stunning Petra dear friend! I lost my muse and couldn't think of a thing for that FMS sketch, but you have certainly nailed it with that beauty! A winner indeed! The second one is fabulous too with that lovely, bright panel and I can just imagine the shimmer on it! You ought to link it up to the HLS CAS challenge this month! Have a very lovely day my friend! And your MOP card is amazing. The colors on it are rich and beautiful, and I love those flowers. So nice to come to your blog and leave with inspiration and smiles. This is so funny... Let me explain... When I was linking up with FMS I thought to myself 'You know I bet Petra would be perfect for this challenge!' and then I saw it!! Your fantastic card filled with all the beauty, color, and of course the right balance of black that I have come to love so much. Great card my friend and have a great day..
Cyber Hugs,
Shawna
P.S. you should get that card inside before it rains.. It is way too beautiful to get wet.

Two beauties, Petra. Love how you were able to work in some bits of patterned paper on your first card, and the panel you made on your second card is gorgeous.

LOVE the added chevrons in the corner -- perfectly balanced card! Great job with Loll's technique too -- makes for a fabulous background!

absolutely stunning set of cards, petra!! I love your take on the FMS layout... so full of gorgeous details!! your use of the faux mother of pearl technique is masterful and resulted in a beautifully executed card!!

I keep seeing mother of pearl cards lately so I think this is a sign that I need to dust off that technique and make a card using it! I love these two cards. The first is so eye-catching with the geometric shapes of the patterned paper and the black accents. And of course, the second card is a delight to see with that wonderful background!

Gorgeous framed layers on your first card, Petra ... amid every little bit of that delicious detailing, the tiny mint humbug dot really caught my eye ... what a fab touch! Your faux mother of pearl panel is stunning ... such spectacular sponged colours and wonderfully crisp white ... swoon! You should link it up at Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge ... faux MoP is the theme this month ... and I'm the GD! Hope to see you there! Hugs, Anita :)

I love the way you have put the patterns behind the white flower - it's perfectly lines up so it all points to the flower! Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.

You are so clever at interpreting sketches Petra and I love the pretty mix of paper, flower and flourish and chevrons, and your second card with the faux mother of pearl is beautiful and the white flowers and flourish with that silver twine and gems are fabulous with it. x
