Mojo Monday!

Hi everyone.

It's round or square week over at the Mojo Monday Blog.

I've done the round version of Julee's sketch:

and the sketches:

For my card I've used some very old papers from the Baby 2 Bride collection by graphic45.
I've done the distressing and stamping with Walnut stain Distress Ink by Ranger.
The circle dies are all by Spellbinders.
The stamps are from the 'Borderline' and 'Lean on Me' sets by Verve.  I've used the coordinating die from the 'A CUT above Dies' range by Verve, to cut the label for the sentiment.
Added a twine bow, some small roses by KaiserCraft and some pearls to round off the card.

Thanks for popping in and have a lovely week!

and here is my take on it:

and another photo:

From my photo's you can tell we've got a lovely rainy day today in George.

For my card I've used the lovely 'Stationary noted' range of papers from Teresa Collins.
Dies used are from Spellbinders and Sizzix and of cause the 'Pennant trim' die is from Verve.
The stamp is also by Verve and I've used the corresponding 'U' die to complete the 'Thank you' sentiment.  Added a satin bow as per the sketch and that's it!!

Hope you like my card, I had lots of fun creating it!!

Have a super week and thanks for the visit!

ATCAS

Hi again for today!

I'm back with a second CAS card for the day!!  This time I'm playing along with the ladies over at the ATCAS blog.  The code word is 'Transparent' and I've used some acetate to make a card with a window.

Here is my card:

and a close-up of the daisies I've done with an old book page and acetate:

For my card I've die-cut a window with a Spellbinders 'Reverse Wonky Rectangles' die and adhered a piece of acetate on the inside to form my window.  On my card front I've adhered a piece of dp by Prima and then mounted my window panel on foam tape over that.  The daisies was cut with the 'Flower trio & Leaf trio' dies from the Die-namics' range by MFT.  The sentiment stamp is from the 'Joyful Blooms' set by Verve.

Hop on over to the ATCAS Blog and join in the fun!

Thank you so much for the visit and have a super week!!

Hi everyone!

It's late allready, but I want to post my card for the current challenge over at the CAS(E) this Sketch Blog before I go to bed.

This is the card I've created:

I've stamped the flower from the 'Joyful Blooms' set by Verve, on white cardstock and coloured it with a Tsukineko Emboss Dual pen  for some bright colour.  I added some shine to the flowers with  3D Crystal Lacquer by Sakura.  I adhered the flowers to some washi tape strips on my card front.
I decided not to add a sentiment but settled of some black rhinestones instead.  I added a twine bow to the bottom flower.

This is the sketch:

Thanks for visiting and I would love you to leave a comment - I enjoy them so much!!

Have a lovely day!!

Where have I been??

Hi everyone!!

So nice to be back after a break of more than 2 weeks!  Some of you may have wondered why I have not done any posts and have not left comments on your blogs.  Well, we have spent a lovely week at the Karoo National Park during the school spring break, with family from Windhoek and Cape Town.  We had a lovely time and I would like to share a few photo's with you of the week.

This is the entrance to the park:

On the first morning we went on a guided hike up to the top of a hill overlooking the camp site.  The guide has to be armed as there are lions in the park.

This is the view from the top of the hill:

My sons and their cousin (in the middle) enjoying the view.

Some of the sightings of the wonderful wildlife in the park:

Here a Klipspringer is enjoying breakfast:

My children love to look underneath rocks to see what is hiding there.  A lovely big scorpion!

Some of the lovely rockformations:

A beautiful Steenbuck:

We were so lucky to spot a black rhino.  The rhino is the prime sighting in the park.

Porcupine are nocturnal animals, but we were lucky enough to spot one in the middle of the day!!

An Oryx:

A Secretary bird:

A Red Hartebeest:

Some Zebra:

A male Kudu with very impressive horns:

A few Eland:

A Grey Rhebuck:

and finally some female Kuku:

This is just a small portion of what we have seen during the week.  Unfortunatally we did not see the lion.  They have introduced 7 lion into the park in 2010 and at the moment there are 11 lions.
The Karoo is a very dry area in South Africa and when one starts to study the vegetation you discover once again how wonderful nature is.

Our family loves nature and studies all it has to offer.  My kids enjoy everything from the smallest insects and plants to the largest of the mammals and they are keen birders.  We have really enjoyed this week - our next stop will be the Addo Elephant Park in April of next year.

Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you enjoyed the visit to the Karoo National Park.  I have a lot more I would love to share, but I will leave you with the above - I could carry on for hours!!

I've got a lot of catching up to do in the line of blogposts I've missed out on since we left, and I can't wait to see what you all have created while I was away!!

Have a lovely day and happy crafting!!

Kind regards
Petra

Hi there.

My second post for today and it's a CAS card again.  This time I'm joining in the fun over at the    CAS(E) this Sketch Blog

This is the card I've made:

and this is the sketch:

For my card I've adhered some washi tape strips to a white base which I then adhered to my card front with pop dots.  The daisy stamp is from Verve and I've stamped it on white cardstock and fuzzy cut it.  I've coloured the daisy with a Tangerine Tsukineko Emboss Dual Pen and then gave it some shine with 3D Crystal Lacquer.  I've heat-embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder on a black fishtail banner.  The sentiment is in Afrikaans (my home language) and says 'Congratulations'.  The fishtail banner and daisy  I've adhered with pop dots to the card.  To finish off the card I've added a leafy flourish cut with a die from the Die-namics range by MFT.

Not much more to say about this card.  Hope you like it!!

Off to bed I am - it's nearly 11 o'clock!!

Enjoy your day and have a lovely weekend!!

Hi everyone.

Thursday means another sketch over at the CAS(E) this Sketch Blog.  I can't believe that I've actually done another black card, but  my idea did not want to work on white, so I went for the black.

Here's my card:

and a close-up of the butterfly:

The sentiment is in Afrikaans and says:  'Just for you'.

The butterfly die and the EF are both from Cuttlebug.  I've added some bling to round it off.

That's it for this beautiful spring day we've got in George!
Have a super day and thanks for the visit!

Kind regards

Hi everyone!

I've joined in the fun over at the RetroSketches Blog again, but I must admit that this sketch has been one of the most difficult sketches for me to work with so far!!  I really struggled to come up with a card that I was satisfied with and only when I went back to the Rondelle collection of papers by Prima, did I manage to make a card that I think did not turn out TO badly!!  I just couldn't find the right piece of  bg paper - believe me I have tried a LOT!!  ...and in the end I ended up with a card on which I could do the chalkboard effect again!!  (yesterday when I did my first chalkboard card I would not have guessed that I would be doing one this morning too!!)

Here's my card:

and this is the sketch:
:
Stamps are all by Verve and the dies by Verve and Spellbinders.
Added some seambinding and pearls and it was finally done!!

Thank you so much for stopping by and have a fabulous day!!

Kind regards
Petra

Chalkboard Mojo

Hi everyone.

A new week and a new sketch by Julee on the Mojo Monday Blog.  This week Julee has given us a lovely CAS sketch to work with.

For the first time I've tried my hand at a chalkboard effect!  All that I've done is to heat emboss my image with white embossing powder and then added a bit of white shading with my finger and a DewDrop Brilliance (Platinum Planet) inkpad.  This is also the first time I have used such a lot of black on a card.  Anyway, here's my card:

and this is Julee's sketch:

The small pieces of dp I've used are form We R Memory Keepers.
The stamps are all from Verve's Plain Jane range (VSPJ-0077, VS-09-PJ016) and the Borderline set.

Time to be off to fetch my eldest son from school!  They're busy with exams and school closes an hour earlier, at 1pm.

Thanks for visiting and have a lovely week!  I always appreciate comments!!

Kind regards
Petra

CTS#44

Hi everyone - hope you're having a lovely Sunday!

I'm joining again in the fun over at the CAS(E) THIS SKETCH Blog.  The sketch for this week is really a lovely one and this is the card I've created:

Here's the sketch:

At first I was totally lost and did not have a clue what to do with the sketch!!  I started digging into my boxes of stamps to try and find something I could use.  When I came across the leaf stamp I put it aside as a possibility to use and then I remembered that I've got the perfect sentiment stamp to go with it.  Problem was - I needed a branch for my leaves!!  Not having any drawing capabilities there was no chance that I could draw a branch myself so back to my boxes of stamps I had to go.  I came across this stamp and knew that I had to work out a way to use it as this is the only stamp I have with a nice branch on it!

In the end I stamped it on some cardstock and enlarged it to 200% on a copier machine.  I adhered my copy to a piece of cardstock and fussy cut it and I had my branch!

The leaves I've colored with ordinary colored pencils and then coated it with 3D Crystal Lacquer for a nice shine.

The leaf stamp is one by a local craft shop, Great Impressions and the branch and sentiment stamps are both by KaiserCraft.

In the end this card was super fun to make!

That's it for now, thanks for the visit and hope to see you again soon!  If you've got a minute or two, I would love you leave a comment!!
Kind regards
Petra
