FMS#245

Hi everyone!!!!

Made a card this morning to link at the Freshly Made Sketches Blog!!!!  This is the lovely sketch for the week:

and my take on it, flipping it upside down:

Strelitzia and shadow stamps from a local craft shop, Great Impressions.  I love how the Strelitzia does not stamp a solid image.  I've heat embossed it.
I've got two scorelines below the sentiment strip.
Afrikaans sentiment saying: 'Heartfelt Condolences'.

This is what a Strelitzia looks like in nature:
You can see why I worked with orange and purple on my card.

I will leave you with that for today!!!!  Such a joy having you spend some time with me!!!!!  Hope to see you again soon!!!

So mod and retro! The blocks of color are the perfect little accent to the clean lines of this design!

I'm glad you included the photo of the Strelitzia because I was thinking the stamped image looks like what we call a Bird of Paradise and it is :) - one of my favorite flowers! The card is gorgeous with the perfect purple & orange blocks of color, Petra!

Wat heb je de kaart weer mooi gestempeld Petra. En die bloem in het echt is zo mooi en inderdaad begrijp ik nu je kleurkeuze. Mooi met de sequins erbij, maakt het helemaal áf. Dit is genieten...
Lieve groetjes Miranda

Love how you've recreated this gorgeous flower (which in Florida we called Bird of Paradise..it looks similar) in your lovely card. Doing the square pops of color behind the elegant floral silhouette was a stunning design idea. TFS & Hugs

Schitterend!
Groetjes,
GerJanne

Gorgeous card Petra. Love the scored lines to follow the sketch ... so creative. Your block stamping is so pretty and I'm amazing how how clean the orange and purple colours are even though they are overlapping. So, so pretty!! Great flower image ... and thanks for including a picture of the real flower --- amazing colours so can see why you were inspired. xx

Your colors are gorgeous, Petra, and certainly are perfect! I hadn't heard the botanical name for this flower - I was thinking Bird of Paradise, and it seems [from one other commenter] I could be right? Gorgeous rendition of the sketch and the perfect stamp for it, too! xx

Hey pal...I haven't forgotten your e-mail - I'm about through my reply but still have a few more lines to finish. Hopefully will find some time this weekend to complete my 'catching up' e-mail!

Stunning card! The flower is gorgeous in real life and just as beautiful on your card! I love all the white space, I love the two scored lines (so simple and yet soooooo effective) and I really, REALLY LOVE how you tucked the sentiment behind the images - looks so cool!

This is gorgeous. Love the color blocks with the stamping on top. We have a lot of those flowers here in Southern California, and we call them birds of paradise. I think maybe our climate is similar to yours. Anyway, a beautiful take on the sketch. I like it flipped like you did.

Isn't the Strelitzia beautiful Petra and your silhouette stamp and the rectangles echoing those pretty colours is a great way to go for this challenge, and I love the two embossed lines below the sentiment strip, and the clear gems which finish it perfectly. x

You captured the colors of the real flower so well on your card! So beautiful! I never heard the "technical" name of this flower before.

Love the African name of this flower, Petra! We call it Bird of Paradise, and your embossed image beautifully shows off why the "bird" is used in the name! Gorgeous card, and lovely photo! XXOO
